Spaceships

23.11.2023 – 20.12.2023.

Lađušić’s “Spaceships” are painted with the deepest black color ever produced on the planet, showcasing a unique acrylic technique that absorbs every trace of light, contain layers imbued with the memory of glow, creating a display of space and depth that almost dematerializes matter itself.  These particular pieces feature all sorts of “luminous constructs” and “radiant architectures”, which dramatically stand out against the absolute darkness. Light is employed in all forms and shapes, be it geometric patterns, abstract shapes, or detailed designs, the elements appear to float effortlessly, almost suspended in space. This technique is more than a stylistic choice; it’s a profound statement on the nature of existence and perception, where light and darkness coexist and interact delicately.

This last series is an homage to his boyhood dreams and fantasies, which, encouraged by curator Denis Leo Hegić, he decided to transfer onto canvas. By transposing these visions, Lađušić bridges the gap between the tangible and the imagined, between childhood wonder and adult realization.

The works in this series represent a fusion of art and innovation, where classical painting meets modern technology, resulting in works that highlight an advanced direction in his expression.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Marko Ladjusic is a painter, sculptor, and multimedia performance artist. He works as a full professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, where he lives, and he is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. He has been a member of ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia) since 1995. Ladjusic graduated in 1995 from the Faculty of Applied Arts at Belgrade University in the Department of Applied Sculpture. He has presented his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, and has received various recognitions and awards for his work, which is now part of permanent exhibitions in public spaces, private collections, and institutional collections.

Marko draws inspiration from everyday life and childhood while striving to present a desired imaginary reality. With a recognizable artistic style, he constructs distinctive landscapes that are completely devoid of realistic foundations, recognizable motifs, and exact proportions. His three-dimensional images, or “structures,” constantly play with perception and understanding, inviting the viewer to participate in the construction and discovery of limitless layers and meanings behind the artwork.
